A brief history of Lillian E Johnson

Lillian E Johnson was born to Clodia Margaret Wyatt and Sidney L. Johnson on 16 Feb 1890 in Chestnut Mound, Smith County, Tennessee. She was the eldest daughter amongst nine children.

Lillian is cited in the 1900 U.S. census in Civil District 8, Smith County, Tennessee with her parents and siblings. Again in the 1910 census, Lillian was living with her family in Civil District 1, Macon County, Tennessee.

In the 1920 U.S. census, Lillian and her brother Hayden were boarding with their Aunt Agnes Moore in Coventry, Summit, Ohio. [The direct connection between the Johnsons and Agnes Moore is not known by this researcher.] Lillian and Hayden were working at a Rubber Factory, with Hayden's occupation listed as: "Cuts plyes" and Lillian's as "Office Work". It is assumed that this is where Lillian met her future husband, Charles V. Lineweaver -- who was also at the same boarding house. [Summit County is the Rubber Capital of the world.]

In 1925, Lillian married Charles Victor Lineweaver. [It is assumed that they married in Ohio; however, this is a guess.] Charles Victor Lineweaver was born approximately 1892 in Virginia. His parentage is not known.

In the 1930 census, Charles and Lillian had moved to District 4, Davidson, Tennesse. Charles was working for the U.S. Government as a mail carrier.

Lillian and Charles adopted their [living] son who remains in the Nashville area.

Lillian passed away in September 1985 in Nashville, Davidson, Tennessee. It is unknown when or where Charles died; however, it is assumed that he died in the Nashville area since his son and Grandson also live there.

[Researcher Note: I remember my Great Aunt Lillian as a disciplined woman who was exacting in her life and expectations of others. However, I always found her kind to me and my siblings, in spite of our rambunctiousness. My Momma used to talk about feeling sorry for her cousin because Aunt Lillian was so strict. She would take pleasure in trying to give her cousin treats he might not get at home. She remembered her Uncle Charles as a very gentle man who was always kind and welcoming to her as a child.]
