A brief history of Margaret R. Cope

Margaret R Cope was born October 20, 1840 in White County, Tennessee to Elizabeth (Mason) and Andrew Cope.

Her siblings included: Andrew Jackson, Madison H, Sara, Susan, Nancy, Matilda, Charlotte, Mason L, Melcena, and Joshua David M. Her father Andrew had previously been married to a Sarah Wallace and their children (Margaret's half siblings) included: Elizabeth, Cynthia, John W, James Cope, Wallace B, and Wiley.

November 10, 1959 Margaret married Stephen W. Johnson in White County, Tennessee. Stephen was born March 12, 1839 to James and Temperance Johnson in Hawkins County, Tennessee.

Stephen and Margaret made their home in White County, Tennessee. Their children included: Mary Agnes, Luticia S, Sidney L, Nettie Belle, Charles Edward, Francis C, Flora Eller, James Wallace, William F, and Ollie Etta.

Stephen was a dry goods merchant and farmer.

On March 29, 1902, Stephen passed away in White County. He was buried in Peeled Chestnut Cemetery. His headstone reads: S. W. Johnson

Margaret would pass away a few short days later, on April 3, 1902. She is also buried in Peeled Chestnut Cemetery. Her headstone reads: M. R. Johnson.
