A brief history of Clarasa Ann (Reavis) Reynolds

Clarasa Ann Reavis was born 9 Feb 1854 in Lincoln County, Tennessee to Clarasa Ann (Brown) and David Jasper Reavis. Soon to join the Reavis family were two brothers, John Wesley (1857) and George Franklin (1860). As a young child of 9 or 10, Clarasa lost her father, when David Jasper was killed fighting in the civil war. In 1871, her mother would remarry to Henry Calvin Brown and a new sister, Martha Elizabeth in 1872.

On December 10, 1875 Clarasa Ann Reavis married Amzira Anthony Reynolds who was born 22 May 1853 in Tennessee to Kissiah Ann Malissa (Goolsby) and Absalom Green Reynolds.

Clarasa and Amzira raised their family in the state of Tennessee, initially in Lincoln County; however, by the birth of their son George Wesley, they had relocated to Bedford County. Their children included Estella, Lonzo, Dovie Ann, Louella, Amzira, Ida Mae, Betty Alice, George Wesley, and Thomas Benton.

The family appears to have used the name "Runnels" more readily than "Reynolds". The family's primary source of income appeared to be farming according to the 1900 and 1910 censuses.

Clarasa passed away April 13, 1917 in Singleton, Bedford County, Tennessee of a heart attack. Less than two years later, Amzira died of a heart attack on the 27th of December 1918 in Shelbyville, Bedford County, Tennessee. He was 65 years of age. Amzira and Clarasa were both laid to rest in Willow Mount Cemetery in Shelbyville, Bedford County, Tennessee
