A brief history of Stephen W. Johnson

Stephen W Johnson was born March 12, 1839 to James and Temperance Johnson in Hawkins County, Tennessee.

Stephen's siblings included: Sarah, Susan, Stokely D, Tempy, James, Nancy, Abel, Martha, Amanda E, Margaret, and Martha.

November 10, 1959 Stephen married Margaret R. Cope in White County, Tennessee. Margaret was born October 20, 1840 to Elizabeth (Mason) and Andrew Cope.

Stephen and Margaret made their home in White County, Tennessee. Their children included: Mary Agnes, Luticia S, Sidney L, Nettie Belle, Charles Edward, Francis C, Flora Eller, James Wallace, William F, and Ollie Etta.

Stephen was a dry goods merchant and farmer.

On March 29, 1902, Stephen passed away in White County. He was buried in Peeled Chestnut Cemetery. His headstone reads: S. W. Johnson

Margaret would pass away a few short days later, on April 3, 1902. She is also buried in Peeled Chestnut Cemetery. Her headstone reads: M. R. Johnson.
